Why You Should Filter Your Water

All life on earth came from water. It is without a doubt, the most vital liquid on our planet. Although it’s important for life, our water is tainted with harmful chemicals, bacteria, and other contaminants. How is that possible you ask? It’s well known that our natural environment produces many toxins that can hurt us. The problem today is that we further muddy our water supply with pollutants and chemicals with the production of certain products.

Do you like drinking water from the tap? Probably not and most Americans would take the same stance. Drinking water from the tap is usually frowned upon because there can be many lingering contaminants that are bad for us. If you get your water tested, there could be a good chance that there are things that should not be in there. Hollywood has even gone as far as to make a movie about an attorney fighting for a community that has tainted water. In the movie, a company improperly disposes of their runoff waste by filling up pools that knowingly contaminate the local water supply with chromium. The worst part is that the film was based on true events.

The truth about bottled water

You may be thinking “Oh, I’ll just drink bottled water instead. It’s clean and better for the environment when I recycle”. WRONG. Bottled water isn’t much cleaner, better, or good for the environment. In fact, 90% of plastic water bottles are not recycled after use. They end up in landfills and our oceans every year. Not many people know it, but our trash easily ends up in the ocean and causes monstrosities like the Great Pacific garbage patch. It’s literally a ginormous floating chunk of trash that is double the size of Texas.

It’s also not much cleaner. Think of it as a bottle with glorified tap water. While there are companies that have multiple stage filtration systems, some companies don’t. You can be left paying for what’s pretty much water from your sink in a bottle.

Remember, bottled water:

  • Can contain toxins derived from the plastic (BPA)
  • May not be filtered
  • May contain microplastics
  • Can cause fertility and development issues

We don’t drink dirty water for the same reason we don’t eat on the floor. It is unsanitary and can cause illness. Even if you choose not to drink tap water, being exposed to it in showers, washing your hands, and even washing your clothes can expose you to harmful pollutants. Research has shown that your body can absorb more harmful disinfectant byproducts from a 10-minute shower than drinking one liter (one quart) of tap water.

Should you get a Whole-house Water Filtration System?

You can take measures to get clean water. One option you have is to get a whole house water filtration system installed in your home. While they may be a larger initial investment, the benefits greatly outweigh the cost.

These filters are proven to:

  • Remove contaminants
  • Reduce the risk of certain cancers
  • Removes minerals that cause scale buildup and hard water
  • Extend the life of the appliances that use water
  • Give you better-looking skin and hair

A whole house water filtration is a great way to get cleaner water for whatever you need. With specialized filter technology, it removes all the harmful contaminants that pose a danger to your health. Most systems use activated carbon and reverse osmosis technology that filters water down to 10-20 microns. Not only that, it allows you to save money on future plumbing repairs with less scale build-up and lets you ditch buying bottled water. Cleaner water isn’t good just for you, it’s good for your home too.

So why should you filter your water?

The bottom line is that our tap water is not as clean as we thought it was. In today’s society, many factors play a role in muddying our water supply. With a whole house water filtration system, you’ll have a defense against the contaminants in your water. You should filter your water because you deserve to keep your family safe from any dangerous toxins and pollutants.
